Optinova produces advanced tubing solutions for medical device and specialty industries. They thrive to be the sustainability leader of the extrusion industry. However, part of the products end up as scrap. That happens for example in the beginning and end of each production (extrusion), due to expiring date or if a product does not meet the requirements in quality control (eg. dimensional errors).

The scrap from Optinova consists of different types of plastics, it is of different sizes, colours and lengths. Only a small part of plastic is sent to recycling.

The challenge is to innovate how scrap material from tube production could be used for some purpose.
